Projected #1 Pick Myles Garrett Is Skipping Going To The NFL Draft...Probably Because He's Going To Be A Cleveland Brown
Every year, all of the top prospects for the NFL draft are invited to watch it in person. When their names are called, they go up on stage and receive their jerseys from their new teams.
Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett has always done things his own way though.
Projected by many to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, the 6-foot-5, 270-pound junior does not want to take part in all the festivities. Fitting his personality, Garrett plans to watch the draft at home in Arlington, Texas, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Brent Zwerneman.
So it just came out that once in a decade talent Myles Garrett will be skipping the NFL draft and watch at home in Texas. You can look at this two ways. 1) He’s not about the fame and just wants to play football. Dude wants to just hear his name called and get to work so he can be the best player possible 2) He doesn’t want to be on stage to be told he’s going to be a Cleveland Brown. I’m going to side with the latter and I don’t hate the move. I mean he’s destined to either be a huge bust, go to jail for life, get hurt, or become a drug addict. I’m sure he’s a great kid and from all accounts he’s going to be a goddamn God child in the NF, until he finds out Cleveland is his home. I honestly feel bad for what’s about to happen to Garrett.
The only two guys who have promise here honestly haven’t been on the team long enough to plummet into irrelevancy. Danny Shelton had a great year at DT and Corey Coleman, despite battling injury, showed flashes of being a stud receiver. I’d love to have this conversation a year from now and see where those two are because it’s probably not going to be pretty. Am I rooting for Garrett to break the curse and be a stud for Cleveland? Fuck yeah, but it’s an honest pipe dream. So I don’t hate the move of skipping out on the draft, but don’t kid yourself it’s only so he doesn’t have to be there in person to put on a Browns hat and get laughed at.
Enjoy these highlights of the freak Myles Garrett and let us pray this translates to his time in Believeland.
P.S. What will probably happen is they’ll pass on Garrett for Deshaun Watson which will absolutely blow up in their face. Garrett will go to San Fran or Chicago and revitalize one of those franchises.
